Search entries
A name, location, or other term entered into a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. We do not store or log those search terms on our own systems. The provider handles the query under its own privacy terms.
Messages
If you email us or submit a contact message, we retain the information needed to read and answer it. We do not disclose the message outside our organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Ordinary web and analytics systems may receive technical details when a page loads. Those details can include:
- Your internet protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when available
- Date and time stamps
Cookies
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site and support site functions. You can block or remove them through your browser. Some features may work differently when cookies are disabled.

Websites Beyond Our Control
Links may lead to Rowan County records, the detention center, Kentucky corrections and court portals, federal locators, or outside search tools. Once you follow a link, that operator’s privacy policy and data practices apply. We do not control those systems.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across different websites to select ads. That processing occurs on the provider’s systems, not ours.
When Data May Be Shared
We do not sell personal information. Data may still be handled by:
- Search partners that process a submitted query
- Analytics providers that measure site use
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads
- Law-enforcement agencies or other government bodies acting under a valid legal order
Security Has Limits
We use standard, reasonable practices to protect information in our control. No internet service, network, or storage system is completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that a breach, loss, or unauthorized access will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request, you may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete personal information we retain
- Opt out of certain processing when that choice applies
These choices concern data in our control. Government records held by RCDC, KDOC, courts, VINE, BOP, or ICE must be addressed to the agency that maintains them.
Changes To This Notice
We may revise this notice as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised version takes effect when posted here with its updated effective date.
